Position includes lessons, cross country schooling, an education on the business side, and to be immersed in the two horse capitals of the world… how fun is that?! A positive, upbeat person who is self motivated, responsible, and loves horses. Someone who enjoys the opportunity for a career in horses where they are appreciated, with opportunity for growth, and a good bit of fun while we’re at it. Opportunity to learn and grow while improving in your riding and developing as a horseman.

WHY DO A WORKING STUDENT POSITION:

We are so proud of our working student program and its graduates, having produced young professionals up through the 5* level of eventing, and featured in Practical Horseman Magazine. We strive to give our working students an incredible amount of opportunities to learn, grow, develop their own careers, and reach their professional goals. It’s a symbiotic relationship where the working students help us in the production of quality young horses and we help them with educational opportunities immersed in some of the most incredible venues the US has to offer, like the Kentucky Horse Park, the World Equestrian Center, and all the amazing eventing venues in Ocala. It’s college for equestrians! And we’re immensely proud that our working students have often historically stayed much longer than their 6-12 month initial commitments—-many have stayed for up to 6 years, and many have returned for non consecutive repeat terms! We pride ourselves on the fact that it must be a good place to work if they keep coming back.

RIDING OPPORTUNITIES : YOUR GOALS ARE IMPORTANT TO US

Unlike some programs where working students are just free labor to clean stalls, we are seriously invested in your goals and your career. This is a program where you’ll get out of it what you put into it…. Many of our working students have shown up hungry to learn with a great work ethic and great attitude, and we’ve rewarded them over time with incredible opportunities…. WS Chelsea and WS Ali both earned sponsored rides where we sponsored them with horses that eventually took them to compete at the upper levels of eventing on our horses in our program! So many of our WS have gained sponsored rides on our horses where we pay their show bills and provide them with incredible horses to ride, show, and learn on! Shown at left, WS Maddy and WS Millie both winning their horse trial on the same day in 2023 on our horses.

Today Amanda is the Young Horse Trainer at VE, where she often competes 5-7 horses at any event. She was the #1 Young Adult Rider at Novice in the USEA and has produced dozens of quality event horses for us over the last few years.
